Jon Rahm's Pre-Shot Routine and Warm Up

Your golf pre-shot routine and warmup session at the course can set you up for a great round and a lower score. Practicing your swing, stretching, and getting into the right state of mind before the first hole can help you play your best.

A full golf warmup is ideal, but there's not always time to work through your entire pre-shot routine once you get to the course. What's the best way to make sure you're game-ready when you're short on time? Callaway Golf caught up with Jon Rahm to learn about his quick pre-shot routine and 15-minute golf warmup.

"Just go to the range and get your body moving," says Rahm, "just swing". His quick warmup is all about getting into his routine and not sweating the small stuff.

With limited time to practice, Rahm suggests avoiding very structured golf drills and to be realistic with what you'll be able to do, "If you're not feeling certain shots, don't try to hit them." Use your warmup time to hone in on what feels right, and get in as many practice swings as you need.

Nerves can run high before the first tee, even for the pros. Rahm suggests, "nerves are good, it means it matters." Just don't let those pre-shot nerves turn into panic. If you find yourself too nervous before the round, remember to focus on your swing fundamentals and your grip strength.

"It's easy for your hands to get tight," says Rahm, but don't let a strong golf grip mess with your swing. With limited warmup time and pre-game nerves, remember to focus on the essential elements of your swing like your grip, your stance and your stability.

No matter how much warmup time or practice you get before the game, it's a good rule of thumb to remember, "it's just one more shot, try to keep it as normal and follow your routine as much as possible."
