The newest addition to the Titleist Vokey family is here and we’re bringing you an inside look at the Titleist Vokey Design SM10 Wedge. Golf Galaxy Director of Golf Experience Chris Marchini and Vokey Wedges Marketing Director Corey Gerrard explain what’s new and how the SM10 could help you get up and down more often.

Like we’ve come to know and love from Vokey wedges, the SM10 comes in a variety of grinds, bounces and lofts. With no shortage of options, choosing your set makeup can be daunting. Golfers will be happy to learn that Titleist has partnered with Golf Galaxy on an online wedge selector and in-store Wedge Fitting Software used during live fittings that both help guide players into the right wedges. As Gerrard and team note, “Having the right grinds equals the right contact and thus forgiveness."

As for the new SM10, golfers will notice a new visual upgrade: increased symmetry on the clubface. Gerrard notes the symmetry is visible “not just in the square position, but when you’re opening the club around the green, it suits the eye and gives you confidence for the shot you’re about to play.”

Another visual game-changer is the new Nickel finish. Gerrard says this is a “nice in-between” when compared to the Tour Chrome and Jet Black options.

Ultimately, the new design is all about performance. According to Gerrard, the Vokey SM10 delivers in three key areas:

• Shot versatility
• Distance and trajectory control
• Maximum spin

The club’s new center of gravity (CG) is an important engineering change. For high-lofted wedges, like a 58 or 60 degree, the CG has been moved up and slightly forward, which helps the clubface square up at impact, providing a much narrower dispersion and maximum spin. Low-lofted wedges feature a CG between 46 and 52 degrees, moved from the heel side closer to center, which prevents the clubface from rotating.
